I know what kind of deal I want, but getting it to the right hands is the hard part.

Hello to all members of the community. I'm pretty new here and I've been reading as much information as possible to become successful. I thank you for all the information that is getting posted or blogged and now here is a question I have that somebody might be able to answer for me. My CD is about 95% done and will be ready to be distributed to all digital music stores. I have a fan base that is growing pretty rapidly daily. (Youtube example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPHzaJvGntk has 301,481 views) Myspace fans (http://www.myspace.com/djemergency)has grown to over 4,000 users and still growing... I get fan mail a few times daily and I have everything else from publishing, distribution, web design, studio, and so forth. I would like to take my career a step further by getting a promotion deal from a major record label. who can I speak with to get this deal going? Thank you.

(P.S. I added some of the music that I created for my CD. All the music on my CD is 100% original and sample free.

DJ Emergency,

I know this MAY not be the answer you want to hear, but the best way to approach getting a major label's attention is by already having the attention of listeners. This of it like this: when you are popular enough to be considered for a record label deal, the record labels will find YOU. You are gaining some amazing traction on your own from what I can tell, and in all honesty, I'm not sure why you would even want a record label deal. Nearly no major label deals include any promise for marketing or promotion of your record, even though that is probably what YOU want out of the deal. Plus, they are going to want some stake in your copyright, and thus your income.

So, if you have 300,000 views on one video alone, I suggest you keep going solo. You'll be able to retain 100% of your copyright and thus reap all the benefits of your work. You are in the unique position of already having people's attention, so you don't need someone else's help (and someone else taking a cut).
